Recipe: How to make Tilapia Fish Stew

Tilapia from the fresh waters of Lake Victoria has a distinct taste. It also makes the best tasty stew! Here's a recipe to try at home if you are a fish lover:
What you need:
- 1 whole tilapia cut into pieces
- 3-4 medium sized tomatoes
- 1-2 medium sized onions
- 1 green pepper
- 1 carrot (optional)
- 2 tbsp crushed garlic
- 2 tbsp ginger
- 2 tbsp fish masala
- 2 tbsp curry powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
Method:
- Heat some oil in a suitable saucepan and fry the onions until they are translucent.
- Add the garlic, ginger, curry powder as well as the remaining vegetables and saute for about 2 minutes.
- When the tomatoes are tender, add the fish and water or stock.
- Bring to boil and reduce and gently simmer for no more than 20 minutes, adding spices to taste.
- Serve with rice or ugali.
