Nutrition for the Colder Seasons

2022 Oct 25th

As the seasons change and it gets colder, our bodies and our minds go through a change of their own. Because of these changes, here are a few dietary changes we think you should consider this Fall and Winter:

  • Start your day porridge. It’s much harder to remain energized throughout the day as the temperatures drop. Adding more energizing options like bushera porridge can help to ensure that your body gets enough energy to keep you going throughout your day.

  • Consume more root vegetables. Root vegetables are available fresh throughout the year at Chakula Tamu. From root vegetables like sweet potatoes and yams, to adding variety to your dish with vegetables like Sukuma Wiki can help to ensure your body is getting the fiber and nutrients it needs.
  • Increase your intake of fish. Rich in vitamin B12, omega 3 fatty acids, as well as vitamin D, fish is known to boost your immunity while also reducing fatigue and tiredness.
